My First Blog Attempt

Hello Knitting Family,

I am launching my first blog! This all new to me and I'm thrilled to start sharing what is happening in my knitting world.

About four years ago, I started knitting scarves and was rewarded by my son encouraging my efforts by saying that he felt I was "available" when I was knitting while watching TV with the family instead of working on my computer. Funny that now that he is doing his online chatting and game playing, my husband & I struggle with his being "unavailable" due to the computer.

I've chosen serenity knitting as my blogspot because knitting has given me serentiy....I feel part of a community, productive, creative and relaxed. Recently I had a health problem and I needed to calm myself down...I pulled out my knitting. It didn't completely solve the problem but I felt more serene!

My knitting obsession has grown considerably and here I am venturing into the world of blogging about it.

On the Needles:
  • two pairs of socks, part two of first pair (double circs) and part one of experimental pair using 5 DPNs.
  • my gauge swatch for my Great American Aran Afghan (GAAA)
  • baby blanket for neighbor
  • iPOD cover
  • Dishcloths for Nancy and Kathleen

Projects I'm about to start:

  • summer sweaters for my nieces
  • fetching for Willie
  • fetching for me
  • Mobius scarf for me (taking a class at Knitting Sisters)
  • DNA scarf for Scientist husband
  • Lace scarf for Aunt Joyce
  • scarf for favorite author (work related)

Finished Objects: (within last year)

  • Wine cozy for Fred
  • Lace scarf for Mary
  • Scarf for Jen
  • Scarf for Dana
  • Scarf for Danielle
  • Hat for Connor
  • Scarf for Mom
  • Dish cloths for Willie
  • Scarves for family friends in France (seven)

Pictures of FO: Well, I have a little problem here. I don't have very many pictures but I hope to get this done soon. I am hoping for a compact digital camera for my birthday and that will help with the process. I will update the list with pictures over the next few weeks.

I hope to enter my favorite Podcasts and discussion of how to organize and manage my obsession so that knitting remains serene for me.

Happy knitting and thank you for stopping by!

Jill
